Went to a totally chill and laid back figure drawing session accompanied by the talented Amanda Monson today and had a blast! It was the exact opposite of what i was expecting. Plus I saw a couple people from the TAD workshop as well. A couple people have already posted some info about it but heres the address and its on wednesdays from 9am-12pm and its $10 a session and $40 for six.

Ill be sure and post some of the figure drawings i did, I got some nice feedback on some of them and plan on doing them alot more since figure drawing classes wont be offered this coming semester, laaaaame!
On another note ive decided to take my studies to the next level and dedicate all of my spare time to studying color theory, figure drawing, art history, and working on my technique and draftsmanship. I already feel like ive learned so much just by doing thumbnails and quick studies of classic paintings! its a great technique which everyone should check out! The UMKC library has a surprisingly decent art section and a good selection of books on printmaking. Ill also start posting some sketches and what not from the old moleskine.

TAD POD
So, I have i just created my first blog and of course have no followers but ill still talk about my experience I had with the TAD workshop in Kansas City.
If you haven't heard of TAD (the art department) http://theartdepartment.org/info.shtml you should check it out because its a new school founded by Jason Manley of Massive Black and a handful of other extremely talented artists/instructors such as Marshall Vandruff, George Pratt, John English, Mark English, Brent Watkinson and alot more of well known artists working with PODs all over one of which is located in Kansas City! Anyways it was pretty amazing to be apart of something that is in the process of becoming something huge and truly amazing for art students on all skill levels.
The workshop was a three week illustration immersion 12 hours a day seven days a week. Being a student at UMKC which has no type of emphasis on illustration it was amazing to be given a chance to work and learn next to some extremely skilled artists and illustrators who were incredibly in tune with the business side of things as well, which was something that i had a lot of questions about and had gotten plenty of answers. After taking this workshop I have never been more excited and hungry to learn everything i can about illustration, art, and the history of it all.
With all that said I plan on posting some pictures, links and whatever else comes my way art related. Next post ill be sure and put up some pictures from the workshop, some figure drawings, monotypes, and projects I'm working on so ill see ya than!
